Have mirrorless lenses become too expensive?

We were just talking this morning about pricing of gear as recently I have been looking at making some upgrades.  Is it me or have lenses increased in pricing compared to DSLRs?

If so, why are mirrorless lenses costing more?

Everything is more expensive these days - labor, materials, transportation, taxes - it's called inflation.

I understand about inflation, however there were points in DSLR history where inflation was a thing, and yet prices didn't go up on DSLR lenses at that time.  There seems to be other factors in play with mirrorless.

More R & D needed, perhaps?

The shorter Flange Focal Distance of Mirrorless requires lenses to bend light more in order to project an image over the entire image sensor. That requires better, more sophisticated, more complex optics, which, in turn, costs more.

Inflation, new tech, demand.  There are a number of reasons why prices are going up.

Government benefits during inflation, so it's likely we won't see things becoming cheaper.  Not at least on a large and continuous basis.

Truth!  Masses don't think about their spending.  No wonder why our countries gross debt ceiling gone up so much

When on fixed retirement incomes, we tend to be much more careful of the cost of things that we buy. If the need/desire is great enough, we will save up until we at least have most of the money needed. High dollar lenses aren't likely even considered. Those making more money than they can spend will likely buy the  best of the best of everything, regardless of the price. I wish that I could say that I am one of them, but I'm not, and never have been. Still, I am amazed at what I have been able to do with what I have.

All but one of my dSLR lenses were purchased used.

Mirrorless is too new for that to be of much benefit.

Is it me or did the 1.4g primes, 24, 35, 85 all drop like rocks in price?
