Are camera manufactures phasing out SD cards and going with CF Express in the professional cameras?

I don't think so, most of the newer cameras have at least one SD slot in them.

Funny, I read an article a few months ago on this topic.  They suggested SD cards would be replaced with Micro SD cards.  Because SD cards are glued together and have micro SD cards in them.

I'm happy they are using larger cards, I always misplace micro SD cards!

Really? I could understand the micro SD cards, but larger CF express cards?  I'll play along and ask 'why'?

Yes that is correct, there is a trend among camera manufacturers, particularly in the professional segment, to phase out SD cards in favor of CFexpress cards. This shift as I understand it, is driven by the demand for higher performance standards that CFexpress cards meet, such as faster read/write speeds, which are essential for high-resolution photography and video, especially 4K and 8K content. CFexpress cards provide the speed and durability needed for burst photography AND high-bitrate video, making them more suited for professional use compared to SD cards. This does not mean SD cards will disappear immediately, but we're seeing a clear preference for CFexpress in newer, high-end camera models.

CF Express cards are WAY faster than SD cards and micro SD cards.

Read the specifications of whatever camera you choose and note the type of card they use - you ought to know what the trend is.

If recommending that people think for themselves is considered rude by admin, this is hardly the type of forum I want to be associated with.

My camera has both SD and CF Express slot, almost exclusively I use the CF slot

I always preferred the CF card as it was bigger (more visible) and much more sturdy.
