Did You Know?

Did you know that full grown giraffes have a 25 lb heart that pumps blood up their neck, a distance of 8 feet to the brain from the heart and they do not pass out when they raise their head suddenly after drinking water? At the base of their brain they have the "Circle of Willis" that absorbs blood through a system of valves opening and closing, which prevents blood from bursting vessels when they drink. Their left ventricle is 3 inches thick to provide the muscle power necessary to pump blood up their long neck.
