Using DSLR in public makes you feel older than you are?

Not my topic, this was on a Reddit board earlier this week and I have to say the answers were both entertaining and surprisingly caught me off guard.

So the question goes: Would/DOES using a DSLR in public make you feel old?

Actually for me, having a DSLR or mirrorless camera when others are on their iphones, makes me feel like a pro

I  don't give a **** what the "public" think of me using a DSLR .

It's a matter of using the camera with which I am most comfortable ;  to  date  none of the 5 mirrorless cameras I have tried  satisfactorily matched the comfort factor that I still enjoy with my 10-year-old DSLR .

Given that you got that posting off Reddit , doesn't surprise me that someone might be obsessed with public image .

(Echo), - I don't care what others think, if the camera does what I want it to do, fair game.

To the uninitiated, a dSLR looks more professional than a Mirrorless.

So if you care what the unwashed masses think, ...

I'll go out and rock my iPhone one day and DSLR next, mirrorless next.  I don't give a hoot what people think.  Well, unless you are the person writing the check.

Makes no difference to me what's in my hands, nor do I care what others are using or what they think about what's in my hands.

If this was the case, and being a woman, I wouldn't be carrying around such camera as I want to look YOUNGER.  But there is zero truth or reasoning to this statement.

I go out with film cameras and it makes no difference to me what is in my hands

LOL no!  But this thread is funny though.  Back in the day, when I first started to carry a DSLR, I felt more 'official' with a professional looking camera.  Nothing to do with age though.

Makes no difference.  As someone else pointed out already, it's just a tool to get a job done.
