Is B&H extended warranty on camera bodies worth it?

1 month 2 weeks ago #763309 by Stacy Craig
My Canon is on its last leg and I'm going to get a new camera and noticed that B&H has extended warranty that is fair priced considering the time that it covers.  Have any of you actually bought this and got your money's worth from it?  Normally I turn away from extended warranties, but thinking about it for the new camera body.

Let me know please

I've bought new Leicaflex, Nikon F, Voightlander and Zeiss - didn't buy a warranty and so far haven't needed one. Any brand could fail at any time, of course, so it's really up to whatever you think is best - any recommendation any of us could make would be worthless.

Eh, I'm not a extended warranty guy.  Seems like by the time normal warranty is over with most items, I'm OK with rolling the dice.  Honestly never needed anything with my cameras and lenses I have owned.

Not a fan of extended warranties, always saw them as means of just taking money from my pocket and putting into the sales reps pocket.

For me?  You won't find me purchasing an extended warranty from anyone.  Just don't see the reason to.  Buy the time the original warranty is toast, I'm good with coin toss, which knock on wood, have never needed any warranties.  My gear has done me well.

The only warranty I have ever bought was for a TV that I had mounted outdoors and that was mainly to protect it from fading from the sun exposure.

Speaking of B&H, do you think it will one day be online only to remain competitive?

The only extended warranty I have bought in the last 10 years was for our washer and dryer.
